This summer, thousands of Americans are set for a financial boost straight into their bank accounts. While the U.S. government previously sent out money to help during the pandemic, some states are continuing to give out their own cash support.
One of these programs, offered by Alaska, is about to give out $1,702 to a lot of people starting July 17, 2025.
Alaska's payment program, known as the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), significantly helps the local economy and benefits about 600,000 Alaskans every year.
Started in 1976, the program aims to share Alaska's oil and natural wealth with its residents. People who live in Alaska and meet specific conditions get a share of the fund's earnings annually.
When and How to Get the $1,702 Payment
- If you applied for the PFD in 2024 or earlier and your application was marked as "Eligible-Not Paid" by July 9, 2025, you will get your payment on July 17, 2025.
- If you have an approved application but haven't received your money by August 13, 2025, look out for your payment on August 21, 2025.
- Remember, the chance to apply for the 2024 PFD has passed since the deadline was March 31. However, applications for the 2026 payment will open from January 1 to March 31 next year.
Do You Qualify for the Payment?
To be eligible, you must:
- Have lived in Alaska for the whole of 2023.
- Not claim to live in another state or country, or get any benefits from another place, since the end of 2023.
- Not have any felony convictions in the past year, nor have you been in jail for a felony or serious misdemeanor.
- Have been in Alaska for no more than 180 days away last year.
This opportunity is a way for Alaska to ensure its residents benefit from the state's natural resources, supporting both individuals and boosting the local economy.
