This program started with the aim to share the profits from the state's oil and gas sales with the people who live there.
So, what exactly is this payment? Well, it's a mix of two amounts: $1,403.83 is the main part, and there’s an extra $298.17 added on to help folks deal with the high cost of energy in Alaska.
If you were supposed to get money from the PFD before, but haven't yet, and your records from 2024 or before say "Eligible-Not Paid," then you can expect to see this payment on June 18, 2025.
The PFD isn't just about helping people make ends meet—it's also a way to give the local economy a boost.
But remember, even though Alaska doesn't tax this money, the IRS still counts it as income, so it's important to keep that in mind for tax time.
Who gets this money, though? You need to have lived in Alaska for the whole year before and plan to stay there. You should also have spent at least 72 hours there over the past two years and not have been found guilty of serious crimes.
If you wanted to get in on this and meet all the rules, hopefully, you applied between January 1 and March 31, 2025—either online or by mail. The cut-off date was April 1.
One last tip: if you want to stay eligible for future payments, try not to get official licenses with REAL ID from outside Alaska, as it might mess with your chances to receive the PFD.
This isn't the first time Alaskans are getting paid this year—payments have already gone out in April and May. As for the upcoming June payments, they're another chance for those who qualify to get a helpful sum of money.
