Many people that study the economics and politics of space travel already can show where playing politics has harmed getting better means to get out of the atmosphere. When NASA goes to make a launch vehicle, the locations that they are made are determined by where votes are needed for bills. A corporation can make a streamlined vehicle that is viable quicker. People have been talking about asteroid mining for years. This is even part of popular shows that show how people might live in space and what they would be doing. All of this affects the common person in many ways. Someone can make a stock investment into a company that looks to be going in the right direction and the profit can make them richer. The technologies created can make life on Earth better, which means people will live better. None of this is fiction or far in the future possibilities. Science has leaped forward because of what the world has already done in space. Companies need money to keep this going, which takes investments from people who realize what is happening and take the risks with their money to have it happen.

There are many ways that life can be made better with further advancement into space. The resources that can be gathered or recycled do not need to just stay in space to make habitats. The science can make it easier for humans to live in an advanced technological society and not damage the planet they live on. This all takes money and people with the ability to see the dreams of what is possible happen. Someone being able to afford a flight into space is paying money to give a profit to the companies that will make it happen, though many see it as an ego boost for them. Both are true and it will fund further advancements that will take humans to the next step.
